a special sort of cow which says "mooo" (with three o's) in stead of "moo" (like regular cows).
before being an holy cow it was just a regular cow and lived in middle east when jesus were around to spread christianity. "holy cow" as an expression was first used by jesus himself because it would be odd for him to say "holy christ" when he was surprised. after that it was commonly used.
nowadays holy cow lives in india and worshipped as a god.
