self preservation. you cannot switch it off. when it all boils down to one thing, self preservation is the last man standing in your mind. sex, love, money etc. all are there for you to preserve yourself in your voracious being.

quite a tv show it is. besides the top class cast and story, the real depictions of historical events and sociological facts, such as extensive smoking, treating women as lesser beings, dramatic increase in consumption etc., molded inside the flow is fabulous.
you can enjoy the a grade acting of jon hamm as don draper, a womanizer advertising prodigy. although it seems don draper rocks the crowd, the balance between the characters is evenly maintained i guess. every single character has its unique background which continuously evolve as we wander inside don's life.
if you can stand experiencing extensive smoking and drinking (which in fact really really starts to give you itches after 3 or 4 episodes), the show is a definite destination.
by the way, mad men is in fact an abbreviation for advertisers working on madison avenue.
