valkyrie

they are odin's maiden* servants who are mounted on winged-horses*. they visit the battlefields from sky and choose brave warriors who died during the battle with sword, etc. and take them to valhalla. chosen warriors become einherjer for odin and asa-gods and will fight when ragnarök on the side of odin.

i think the most famous, beautiful valkyrie is brynhildr.

swedish viking metal band from norrtalje since 1995. the band's name comes from managarmr, a wolf in norse mythology.

they started as a black metal band, but in time they turned their style into viking metal and i think it's the best thing for the band. they also have an acoustic folk album named urminnes havd, which is one of the best musical thing a human ear can ever hear.

they will release their new album nattvasen on october 22, 2009.
